Welcome to Source Aquatics and thank you for taking the time to check out our website. We are Proudly a Canadian company and support local as much as we can. We have been avid fish keepers and breeders both personally and professionally. For over 35 years our team has dedicated their time and energy to learning about fish, aquariums and everything in between. We take pride in lifelong learning and have obtained three majors and two minors from university. To contribute to the conservation of threatened species worldwide, we devote time to breed fish for the CARES Fish Preservation Program. Hobbyists in this program dedicate personal tank space to preserve and breed at risk species for future generations.

Source Aquatics is a recognized retailer through the Alberta invasive species program. Invasive species are non-native species that have been introduced to the environment, threatening our ecosystem and biodiversity. This program expects that valid and reliable information be readily available to the public to educate about the dangers of releasing invasive species into our local environments. By educating people about this, we hope to assist in helping preserve the native species of fauna and flora for future generations to learn about and enjoy. We want to avoid what happened by introducing: the Nile Perch in 1954 to Lake Victoria, Asian Carp in the 1960’s into the great lakes, European frog bit in 1939 to the Rideau canal in Ottawa, and of course goldfish in many regions worldwide.

Fish keeping is about enjoyment and responsibility, responsibility as a pet owner, responsibility to the environment and responsibility to future generations to come. Every aquatic species that we have, is our pet and treated as such, until we find them a good home.
